Small-to-Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs employing less than 500 people each) make 99% of private businesses in Canada and employ around 8 mln Canadians representing 54% of payrolls.
SMEs contribution into national GDP is most critical in agriculture, health, education, construction, accommodation, food and professional sectors (spanning anywhere from 70% to 97%).

Canada Small Business Financing Programs

There are some other financial facilities established by Canadian government in support of SMEs. Canada Small Business Financing Program (CSBFP) is one of them.

If your business is a start-up or has gross annual revenue not exceeding C$ 10 mln, and you don’t work in agriculture, you can apply for a loan to finance purchase or improvement of land or buildings used for commercial purposes, purchase or improvement of new or used equipment and purchase of new or existing leasehold improvements. Even purchase of an existing business may qualify. Amount of the loan shouldn’t exceed C$1 mln.
